1853 dead, 13,277 wounded American service men and women so far. Averaging this month 2.33 per day killed. These numbers do not include mentally wounded casualties or US civilian contractor casualties. And what are we going to achieve from this fradulent war?
An Islamic goverment of some sort; A continued insurgency in Iraq; Hundred of Billions of US tax dollars in the form of debt to our children; and the rationalization that we must cut all social programs to pay down the deficit but not the public debt; and the justification to ignore our own constitution's fourth amendment as well as others.
How many Americans have to be killed, maimed or incapacitated before the far right Republicans finally see the disaster of their policies on the American people and its freedoms. Or will they continue to pray for George as their savior as they have so far.
The up side for the Republican policies is the oil companies will be able to make record profits for at least another year or two and get some tax dollars to boot for their efforts.
Votes do count and Votes do have consequences. It is a sad time for our country.

Gee--and I can remember members of this list group predicting that the war would be over in 60 days--that oil would flow freely and the price would drop--and that democracy will shower its beneficent light over the Iraqis.
I recently saw a news report on the progress towards democracy in Iraq. Because of the Shiite majority, they are naturally going to take a major and controling interest in whatever government eventually evolves. There has been a major upswing in the occurence of abuse of females, who are regarded as being inferior and subservient to males in their society. There has even been a resurgence of "honor killings" where the males of a family--if they feel they have been dishonored by a female, say a daughter or sister--actually kill the woman in question and then brutally hack them to pieces. This is the kind of world brought to you by the crusader against "evildoers."
I now hear rumors that plans are even in the works for the possible invasion of Iran.
Is there anyone anywhere who can say with a straight face that what we did to Iraq was for their benefit? When you pay $3.00 a gallon for gas this winter, do you have any doubt at all who is benefitting from the widespread damage this causing our economy? I hope some people are beginning to realise why some of us were so desperately against the re-election/coronation of GW.

Great Googly-moo!
The Republican Iraq War's continuing toll.
Being able to say "I told you so" is meager satisfaction. I'm hoping
that Iraq + gas prices will drive a stake through the heart of the
new, meaner, willfully-ignorant Republican party - but I don't
seriously expect that. Best hope is that it will handicap the next
Republican nominee a little. There has a been a generational change
in U.S. politics (unfortunately, it's our generation - the ones who
felt left out of the "new left"). It's Cavaliers vs Roundheads all
over again - and guess who won that one. Exile to France/Switzerland/
Argentina/Chile for excellent paragliding is looking better and
better... - Hugh

do you think that the liberal news media should have the ability to put two-legged human beings, feet on ground, into places in new orleans DAYS ahead of armed nat'l guard security forces?
considering the horror stories, i sure hope it's just those commie, armed looter surrendering to, cowardly, unpatriotic, hapless repeating, just no darn good lefty press liars making it all up.
i realize that the media only have to get a few people into place, whereas the nat'l guard has...oh yeah...there's that iraq thing again. but that's silly, i'm sure the two aren't related. wait...i just heard gw on the radio and i immediately feel better. thank goodness, he just talked me out of being a bush-hater again! almost slipped there. sure hope you didn't marcoroni boy! he's always just so darn confident and eanest. he just makes me swoon soooo!
