Daniel's Mountain

Post by Bari »

Daniel's mountain looks flyable and soarable Sunday Aug 7th, 2022. FC has been steady since last two days. I'll be heading there tomorrow in the afternoon.

I flew Daniel's well it was a sledder. PGs sank out, I waited some and then went for it. As I got out of the launch slot and took a right turn I saw a few birds above the ridge but my vario didn't beep once. I went west until the bowl and then turned and flew past the launch at which point I was maybe 100 foot below launch. There were a few pops here and there but nothing material so I went for the landing. Flew over the house and landed uphil.

At least Daniels saw an HG flying after many many years right! So that's good enough for me.

Glad you got to fly Bari! You are right, HG flights have been rare at Daniels lately.... How was the road up?

Road, well it's terrible (can't classify it as a road but for crossover or proper SUVs it's nothing they can't handle). There was a tree that had fallen across the road perhaps 100 yards before launch so had to park there and carry the glider. After 4 it picked up and there was plenty of wind down at the LZ too.

Remind me what you are driving Bari? Downgraded from a 4Runner to an Outback a while ago, curious if the latter is still able to make it up there...

I have a 4runner, but Randy gets his Subaru Outback easily.
