Just looked at the forecast...I'm not impressed. What do you seasoned Pulpit flyers say? I see N cross and blown out very likely. It is a 3 hr drive for me...just sayin...

Are other pilots using another means to communicate flying intention? Bacil said 2 other pilots wre looking at going to the Pulpit today...how come nobody is posting here?

Thanks,

Aron

I am one of the pilots that was considering to fly today.
Though, let them know my preference was Woodstock, if flyable… .
We have been texting and feel free to text me in the future, if you want to reach me faster…
Though, only one day off this week, so did not push it too much… .

Aron and I are at the Pulpit. STFI. I didn't bring my stuff as I want to ensure Aron has a safe 1st flight at the Pulpit for him. His wife Julie is w/ him and experienced at wire crewing. Bacil

Happy to report Aron had a nice launch, flew for an hour+, and had a nice landing in the main. A bit X from the NNW on the ridge, but multiple lift lines into the valley heading NNW. Aron got maybe 1100'? over max. Plenty of soarable hours left at the Pulpit today for anybody that can show up. Otherwise I'm heading home. Bacil

Thanks for the report.
Definitely the place to be today at Pulpit.
Have been checking in on the Holfuy Pulpit and WS the whole day, between “honey due list” at home…
Made my decision to not fly at 11:30 this morning… .
But thanks Bacil for the offer and thumps up for you helping Aron.
You are the man!

It was really great to get a first flight in at the Pulpit! Thanks to Bacil for calling it, and being persistent and encouraging that the day was gonna work. Julie and I got there about 11AM and planted a wind flag in the lz. I think this is the 4th time I've been there just watching how it is done or conditions were off. About 4-5 yrs ago I observed some flying there at the Pulpit and that must have been an epic day becase people were retrieving xc pilots, plus a young newbie flew that day. Now after getting more flights in here and there as a fairly new HG flyer I felt good about trying the Pulpit. It was really fun today. A bit bumpy but there was ridge lift and choppy thermals. I think the concept of lift lines finally hit home. I was trying for an hour and ended up with 59 minutes and about 1300 over (although breif). My highest was actually over the launch area after I felt confident to go back there and sniff it out. Bacil had told me over the radio where the birds were and where to look for lift in the depression in a N cross day.
Thanks to Bacil and Julie for making the flying possible and EXTREMELY FUN!

Looking forward to trying Woodstock soon. Been there a couple times on scouting missions to see it, but never flew there yet.

Let's fly soon,

Aron

We are attempting Hyner on Tuesday afternoon if anyone is interested in a road trip. Waivers are at the lz in a box...watch out for the wasps in there!

I don't know yet if I can fly 501 Wednesday...maybe.
