Practicing HG during the winter @ Blue Sky

Post by wmelo »

I have been practicing HG at Blue Sky for the last weeks to get used to my new harness.
It has been warmer than expected.
Although, I did not have long flights, I could enjoy and improve my landings before Spring really happens.
I still have a long way to go before I risk a XC where I would be required to land on not-perfect LZs like the ones we have a BS.
Not surprising, my "old" harness (Rotor) should not be blamed...the pilot is the problem! Anyway, I feel better in the new Woody Valley Libero: it is really very light!

Although, BS does not allow us to practice take offs, like Smithburg, practicing HG at BS is easier since we do not have to carry the glider on our shoulders up hill. So, if your goal is to improve landing, BS can be really a good option. For foot lunching practice, of course, our training hills are still the better options.

A very lousy video of last Sunday can be found here: https://vimeo.com/396549828
I do not what is worse: my skills like a HG pilot, or my skill as a video producer :)

Great video Walt, looks like you had a nice flight!

But I'm disappointed that you didn't include any footage of the foot lunching. Which sounds.... Intriguing? Brazilian? Odiferous?
