Got me a Gecko now, picking it up Friday night. Looks like we'll be heading to Smithsburg on Saturday.

Woodstock does look good Saturday afternoon so that is where I am heading. ETA; 1:00 pm. If you get to Smithsburg early for a couple test flights you could still make it to Woodstock for a nice afternoon flight.

Afternoon forecasts do look good but, unfortunately, I’m out due to visiting family.

If the forecast doesn't tank, count me in! Willing to gamble based on what I see right now.

Knut, why do you need to go to Smithburg?
You can test the Gecko at Woodstock...I am sure it is easy to fly then your Aeros.

I am tempted to go to WS tomorrow...it is a little bit cold for a hot Brazilian guy... I will try!

1pm at Bridge field?

There will be another Gecko at Smithsburg tomorrow, enabling a cross check of setup, flight, and breakdown. The safer path. Bacil

Sorry, just didn't see this new posting before now. (1:23 pm Saturday.)
Correct I will go to Smithsburg. On my way back from Morgantown, WV. ETA 2pm.
I want to inspect the new wing.
Though, yes we probably all should be at Woodstock today.
I'll catch up with you all next time, playing it safe.
I am sure it will all work out at Woodstock today for you guys.

One of the best days ever at Woodstock today. Just Mark and me. Five years ago there would have been ten pilots there on a Saturday like today. We both arrived about 1:30 in the bridge field and got to launch and set up about 2:00. Mark off first into a bit of a north cross. He worked a bit at first but climbed out. I waited out the north cross to launch into a good cycle but took about five minutes to climb out. Very clear day with a few bald eagles and a huge moon rising in the east made for a spectacular flight. Mark topped out about 4400 and I topped out at 4000 msl. Good landings for both of us as the flow turned NW. Enjoyed a couple of beers at the Brew pub to celebrate.

Sounds great Gary. I wish I was there. My schedule should free up soon and I will be out there. Save a thermal for me!

Great for you guys! Holfuy was indicating fairly light winds there today. How was the velocity at launch and up above?

Great it worked out at Woodstock today.
Only Anthony flew at Smithsburg today. Too much north crossing.
We were 4 HG pilots at Smithsburg that in aftermath should have been at WS.
Hopefully we'll don't miss out next time.

Unfortunately, the weather station readings were completely at odds with what we were seeing on launch. Strong cycles blowing through... Checked the station... And it was reporting under 10. Like, *way* under 10, not even close.

Granted, a bit of a N cross, could have been shadowing the station. But the Winchester and Front Royal readings were much more aligned with what was actually happening in the slot. Weird.

I'll go even further.... The obs from the WStock station were completely wrong, and would have discouraged me from flying if I hadn't been there to see the actual conditions.
