Might be a decent day at Smithsburg next Sunday. Pulpit most likely blown out and potential west cross at Woodstock. Bacil

Bacil,
Thanks for taking the initiative again... .
Great!
I'll be there around 2ich.
Seems like it will be a great Sunday, a lot of good exercise and hopefully some great flights too.

Well we did get some good exercise, and some flights to boot. I got there about 1:30P to find Knut had just arrived. I set up the customary windsocks and Hall ASI, and they showed some soarable cycles blowing thru. Anthony showed up just as Knut and I had finished setting up. I climbed the hill 1st, finding some difficulty in the climb. Been a long while since I climbed the Smithsburg hill w/ a glider. The switchy conditions didn't help any. Self launched into a straight in cycle, and had a nice landing. 2nd flight self launched again, and had a crappy landing. Switchy conditions, and I didn't adjust quick enough. Got a wing lifted slightly as I flared, and had to run it out sideways. Danny Brotto arrived, and he and Anthony helped Knut take his 1st flight. Danny and Anthony helped me launch into a strong cycle, and I did a few passes down the hill in lifty conditions. On final a thermal broke off and I landed into a relative tailwind. Took away airspeed and I bellied in. Knut took a 2nd flight w/ Anthony and Danny's help. Anthony did 2 flights before we retired to the setup area, dog tired satisfied, as the sun was setting. Might be back to Smithsburg in 2 weeks. Bacil
