Great day at BlueSky on Sunday and was one of the few lucky ones that got to AT, before conditions on the ground apparently made it unsafe. Again, thanks Lisa, Steve and all helpers for coming out for AT.
AT portion seemed fine to me, nothing alarming that I can point at during my AT time.
Flew for 2.18 hours in conditions that seemed great to me. Yes, breakup thermals and not perfect; but good lift, getting up to 5600 feet and almost cloud base. Flew up north east and have never been that fare NE, and was considering XC with Peter, but stopped short, due to many factors…
Later during the day and flight, it got better and better, and probably would have worked out for XC. But, decide to fly a triangle instead.
After getting cold, flew back to the airport, had in fact then problems getting down around 5:30 PM. Worked 20 minutes to avoid lift.
Further, was told to leave this alone, but….
Some AT pilots that did not get to AT, pointed a finger on us few AT pilots (3), special me, complaining that I used too long time to get ready...
This is not quite the full story and it seemed to me that there were plenty of offers and opportunities to get in line earlier for other pilots.
It appeared to me that few were in any rush getting ready for flying. Was approached and asked to go AT… Told them twice, I am not ready and please go ahead, but they said no.
We all also waited on the airstrip for a long time too, not anything we AT pilots (3) could control.
Sorry about that a few pilots were not able to AT and fly and would have been fun if you all could have joined us.
In closing, my daughter helped me with a little video and If interested, check at https://youtu.be/Z1VNoaUh95A
