Pulpit this sat(8/4/2018)

Post by wmelo »

Moderate WNW winds (5-10mph).
Thermal Updraft velocity: from 300 to 500 (not bad at all)
Thoughts?

I'm a little bit skeptical given the super light forecast, esp. if they get lots of rain up there.... That said, I plan to at least have a look at the forecasts tomorrow AM. Might be a good day to use the weather station to help decide.

Latest 15-min average, according to the new weather station: 10 - 13.7mph WNW

Could just be a morning lift-off, so I plan to keep an eye on things for a couple of
hours. But if it holds up.... Who else is interested?

well..... if we hangies had been ready to go at 10am or so, there might have been some brief tube-soaring today. but as expected, it was a day for the pgies.
more details later, but no regrets giving it a go : good launch and good landing, though prob my shortest flight in some time  thanks to Charlie and Rich for their patience with me on the ramp, it was a long 20-25 minute wait up there.

3 HG's did sleds to the secondary though if they had launched about 1 PM they might have stayed up because there was more wind 10+. Ricky got his second Pulpit flight. Of the PG's some sleds and little extendos but Fish, Mark, and I got soaring flights. I got a little over an hour, Mark a bit longer, and Fish earlier maybe 20-30 min. Some PG's did multiple flights. Also, some of the PG pilots did some maintenance in the launch area.
