Reading Sectionals

Found this compilation online. Makes for good & simple understanding of Sectional Charts and how to read them.

Cool---thanks for the link Chris. I've been pouring over sectionals (and learning to understand them) so this is helpful.

One issue I ran into was getting GPS coords for specific items on a paper sectional (not just restricted airspace, but high towers, corners of non-radial restricted airspace, etc.).

There may be a better way to do it (if so, someone please let us know!), but the method I've been using is going to this website to view the sectionals online:
http://map.aeroplanner.com/mapping/char ... ngton%2CDC
Below the displayed map, there are LAT/LON coordinates displayed. What I found out (but isn't stated on the web page) is these coords are for the center crosshair on the map.

So, to get coords for anything in the sectional, scroll/zoom the map as desired, then click to place the center crosshairs on whatever you want coords for (then read the numbers below).

This is definitely a bit of a long-winded way to do it, which is why I'd like to know if there is a faster way!

Nice sites. AOPA also has some info. in helping to understand airspace:
