flare timing - Thanks to Kevin

Post by huddlec »

I had printed off the email Kevin sent me giving me advice on how to flare and read it over and over before taking my first flight. On Saturday I took a second flight late in the day after the wind had died and had a no stepper landing. I was more excited by my success than I was after my last big (for me) xc flight. Whooping and hollering. And I even gave Adam a big kiss, which would have been for Kevin, but he wasn't there.

I was passing around the email to lots of other pilots. (Highland might lose some money on downtube sales.)

I had some more good landings (and one crappy one that, according to witnesses, was caused by a thermal under a wing just as I was about to flare.

It didn't matter that I was hanging on the downtubes and couldn't 'feel' the glider, and it made flaring so easy. What a happy camper I am! THANKS!!! Kevin.

Highland was fun, if not epic, on Sunday. Christy Huddle showed off great landing form resulting from tips she got from Kevin.

Would you (and Kevin) mind sharing the email? If it can improve the flare
of a H5 it must be pretty good.
