SAC Saturday Sept. 9th
Looks due north and moderate velocity. Sunny and upper 60's. October in September. Not too shabby. I'm heading up. Anybody else? Bacil

Re: SAC Saturday Sept. 9th
Got to the SAC at 11:15A to find Joe, Chris, Ric, and Dave set/setting up and Karen present. Conditions looked soarable, w/ a fresh breeze on launch and plenty of clouds beckoning in the sky. I promptly set up and rushing to get airborne the hang check proved I was not hooked in. Not the desired result. Corrected the situation and had a good launch. Turned right and flew a good ways dolphin flying before I was able to get above the ridge. Found ratty lift lines oriented NNE/SSW and climbed to ~ 2500' MSL. Loitered around launch for a while, staying around 1K' over, before spying a nice cloud street to the west and heading that way. Jumped the Klingerstown gap easily but lost down to just above ridge level. Ran the section of the ridge low all the way to just before Pillow. Found some lift drifting across the gap and jumped across. Again back down to just above ridge level and no lift to be found. Turned around and flew back towards the only field not in corn. Had a good landing into a NNW headwind. Carried over to the northern end of the field to break down. Had to carry out thru 2 cornfields to the intersection of Rt. 225 and Mahantango Creek Road. Big thanks to Charley for the retrieve. Back at launch it was blowing good, and Ric was soaring high above launch. Joe went up to launch and backed off twice. Charley was set up and ready to go when I hit the road at 5:30P. Bacil
