WS or the Pulpit? 7/8

Post by Ward Odenwald »

Not seeing many positives in either the Pulpit (near blown out) or Woodstock (west cross) Saturday predictions. Based on the afternoon updates at Windy and XCSkies, I'm waiting for the morning predictions to decide.

Please feel free to add your read or spin on tomorrow’s flying conditions.

Yup, hear that, very on the fence after my latest look at the forecasts...

Crack-o-dawn at the Pulpit might work, but I was kinda hoping for an ease-into-things type of day, haven't flown in a while. Hrmmmmm...

FWIW Jon Brantley is expected to be at the Pulpit by 4P, looking for a late evening flight, which looks great after 6:30P. So you can join me early, or join Jon late. Bacil

6 HG flew at Woodstock including Tom M, Mark C, Randy, Gary, Josh, yours truly. Moderate winds around 2:30/3 when the first two flew, then it got light for a couple of hours, improved slightly when Randy took off and picked up again when the rest of us flew starting about 5:30 when Josh showed us it was soarable. Josh, Gary, and I got approx 2+, 1:15, 1:25 of air time getting up to 2-2500 above but mostly 5-1200 above. We all chose to land at the hg primary. Also quite a few PG's flew.

Hoping to hear more flight details! I know that Tom McG got 2k over, flew for a couple hours, and then landed at the High School in Strasburg. My flight was 40 min, half of it well below the ridge, sigh. How did people do when things turned back on?

Thanks for posting the additional flight details John!

PS: I was amazed by how strong the winds were on I-81N at 7pm. Totally rocking the vehicle, trees heeled over. Then again at Manassas. Then again on the beltway. Wave?
