It's a ways out, but Sunday morning is looking like it might be a good training window...
Anyone know generally/approximately when they close Smithsburg to get busy with planting?

Re: Smithsburg 4/2
I'm still planning on Smithsburg for spring training tomorrow. The forecast is still looking promising as of now with the late afternoon and evening appearing to mellow out quite nicely... possibly even for PG-ers? I'm crossing my fingers that the site will be open to get in as many solid take offs and landings as I can before re-positioning my H2 crosshairs on Woodstock and The Pulpit. My bro plans to join. I hope others will too... I plan to be set up and ready to go by 2:30 pm. If you plan to go earlier, let me know, so we can gaggle...

Stopped by Smithsburg today and the sign is still turned to open. Eric and I will be there tomorrow around 1:15 an flying by 2:30.

Ahhhhh, shoot! Reality caught up with me this morning. I've just got too much that needs to get done, no flying for me today. Sorry to bail on you guys.
Re: Smithsburg 4/2
No worries! Looks like some are headed to The Pulpit... Tempting... But, I'm not liking what I'm seeing on XC Skies for wind speed at top of usable lift. At 1 pm, 10-15 mph is too light for my taste since I have no thermalling skills. At 1 pm, the updraft velocity seems to be there though. It looks like it will back off, but who knows...
Plus I was out at a late pool session practicing rolling my kayak for spring kayaking season. I'm going to keep it simple and fun at Smithsburg today to refresh my takeoffs and landings. Flying by 2:30p.

Fun day at Smithsburg. When I got there, Igor was flying, and Bacil was packing up his new wing to head to The Pulpit. Anthony and I set up in 5-8 mph NW 1/2 the time and N cross the other half. I got 5 flights. I had one smooth, creamy belly landing when the wind totally died on me on approach. It gave me that cow patty fresh aroma for the remainder of the day. Anthony got in 4 solid flights. I'm feeling ready for the mountains again.
