Pulpit Thursday 17 November

Post by mcelrah »

Went whoring off with the PG pilots to Pulpit, but packed my new-to-me Falcon 4 170 in case of "the Pulpit effect". Sure enough, it was blowing 12-17 pretty damn straight in. Richard Elder, Tom Ceunen, returned biwingual pilot Alek Beynenson, Ian and Paul generously shuttled my hang-vehicle to the secondary while I set up. They went to check out a new launch "Tom's Cliff" (?), then returned. Richard, Ian and Alek crewed for me so I was emboldened to use the old wooden ramp on the left, for old times' sake if nothing else. Launch was clean but I gradually sank out and landed after a few passes. This was my first flight on this wing. I think I was flying slow, so the glider didn't feel stable and I wasn't willing to fly very close to the trees. The previous owner was heavier, so I may need to adjust the trim. Also, the north cross was quite evident once off the ramp. Those are my excuses and I'm sticking to 'em! - Hugh
