Several PGers are flying Edith Gap tomorrow. It is a south east facing site so we plan to be on launch before 11. We
can carpool from Manassas at 9:30. Respond if you are interested.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Edith Gap Thursday 4/14
Had 2 great flights today on my brand new wing (Nova Ion)
it's a really flaming pink color. Love it.
Vario was reading 6140 feet MSL when I was headed towards the Luray Airport, but GPS track log is showing max altitude of 5900 feet.
(First flight)
* Got really confused looking at the risers (ordered them with speedbrake risers, which look a little different than I'm used to) so I kinda waffled at launch for a bit, but did have a safe takeoff. Landing worked out as well, but I will take care to maintain more speed in the future on final approach (thanks for the tip Peter )
(Second flight)
* Around 3PM (give or take) the sun was beginning to carry over the ridge, and I was lucky enough to catch some of the last remnants of the strong lift that existed to the East of launch. Got up to 6K +/- 100 feet a few times and just spent time learning how to fly the new glider.
WOW this thing flies like a wet dream! My old Buzz Z3 which I got used to learn on had a few tears in the leading edge in addition to (probably) shrunken brakes and overall just a deteriorating wing. Fast forward to the Ion.... wow. It bites into thermals nicely without surging dramatically, and has a decent glide on bar (at least compared to my Buzz). In addition, the attention to detail on the wing is really apparent, from the grommets around the brake toggles to the way it came packed. What a gorgeous day!
