The Westminster library in Carroll County Maryland is planning a program that will take place Saturday, 4/9, at 11 AM at the library called The Great Outdoors Sportacular. The idea behind this program is to introduce ordinary people to extraordinary/outdoor sports and the people who do them.
From Stella Fouts,
"We’ve begun contacting various outdoor sports groups to come and spend some time, man a table and share what they do. If Capital Hang Gliding and Paragliding Association is interested in participating, we’d love to have you join us. If you’re willing to bring equipment to show/demonstrate, that would be great, too.
The culminating event will be longtime Field & Stream contributing author Bill Heavey talking about his books and some of his crazy antics. As he says of himself, “Basically, I’m the magazine’s doofus. I screw up a lot, but that’s okay. Failure is a far more universal experience than success. And having fun is more important than being good at something.”
Would anyone from the club like to do some public outreach? If so, please contact me.
