We launched the H2 to see how the air was (glad it was not me). Then Dennis launched and scratched at the point. I launched shortly after and snagged a chunky little thermal and Dennis joined below me. Flew pretty aggressively and Dennis followed. We cranked and banked to 550'+ to 1000' over. I was so intent on nicely spacing and being a good thermal buddy that I didn't notice how much we climbed.
Flew around and explored. Flew south (upwind) all the way down the end of the ridge to the open fields in boaty air. Later Will suggested that nobody usually goes that far, but it sure was fun. Came back to find Will working the point and Dennis was still flying with the TVs and Black Vultures in the bowl. Thought I was going to beam up again but it wasn't to be. Went out to land and lined up for a south approach. Nasty LZ conditions and I decided to do a wheel landing (Dennis and Will's advice). It was so stupid easy that I laughed how much fun it was. A good option for a smooth field.
Too bad everyone left early, it was great in the afternoon. I don't think anyone flew all weekend except for a short sled by Brian. Made it home without ANY traffic. A new record for me of almost seven consecutive weekends of soaring flight.
See y'all at the Pulpit next weekend.
