Taylor Hill Saturday

Post by Matthew »

We were hoping to go to Ridgley on Saturday.

But the forecast has changed to gusts to 20 out of the SW for Ridgely.

Ugh!!!!!

So we are heading to Taylor Hill early and trying to fly the PGS before the afternoon thunderstorms set up.

Anyone else interested??

Kinda tempted, given that everything else looks like a bust.... Is John teaching tomorrow? Maybe rent one of his gliders for a practice day, then to that brew pub in Fredericksburg?

Brew pub???

Might be hard to squeeze that in. Planning on going to Potomac Point Winery after flying-- then maybe a cocktail tasting at Margruders and massages and Massage Spring in DC.

I will be teaching there on Saturday with a few students. I mowed the grass on Thursday.

I"m up for the brew pub. I've been telling myself I need to practice kiting the pg for some time. Are you all going for sure?

7:30 am? What have you done with the _real_ Matthew and Karen???

The forecast at Highland has been backed down to SW@10, so I might give it a shot out there.

Argh... Had mentally shifted gears toward Highland, but the forecast has been up'd to SW10-15.

60% chance of rain at Taylor after 1pm, and I'm unlikely to get there before noon at this rate.... Hmmmm, may have missed the boat!

Taylor worked today but it was a little tricky. Winds were predominately crossing from the left with some straight in stuff on the lighter cycles. We all had several flights each and left by 1:00 so the other three could get to the wine tasting event they had tickets for. I tasted the wine too, but for me the brew pub in Fredericksburg would have been a better fit.

John showed up with a few students. They were just getting started as we were leaving.

Sorry to bail on you guys... I ended up at Pt. Lookout St. Park, then jumped the Pax over to Broomes Island for brews and dinner. PLSP was cool, can't believe I haven't been there until today.

Winds on the bay side were much lighter than I expected... I wonder if it was OK after all at Highland today?

Good day at Taylor.

Dan and I swapped gliders for a couple of flights. I did 10 flight total, including one forward. Karen had 7 flights and Dan 5. Hugh showed up and flew four times. Then we adjourned to Potomac Point Winery. It was eh.

The best wine they had there came from California grapes-- a Chardonnay.

We suffered through the traffic home and met up with Hugh at Magruders for a cocktail and liquor tasting. Then went and got massages as planned.

Life is Good!

Unless I hear that it was fabulous at Ridgely. :)
