Dickey's yesterday May 3

Post by Dan T »

Six of us flew PGs off Dickey's yesterday. The two big guns had real long flights over the back, three others landed at the Front Royal Airport to a cheering crowd of sailplane pilots and I pulled up the rear with a 20 minute soaring flight maxed at 700 feet above launch. All in all it was a nice way to spend a warm spring day.

We stopped for a burger and a beer on the way home. While there I learned that only about 25% of our members have paid their dues this year. During discussions I also learned that the PGers are doing a little better at paying their dues than the HG component of our community. This was attributed to the fact that our treasurer has been able to harangue the PGers more often. Since haranguing seems to be the key to getting most of our members in line we all voted to pull Matthew out of haranguing retirement, (he's an expert!) and put him back on special ops haranguing duty. Trust me you don't want Matthew haranguing you, it's something like being water boarded.

Seriously folks our annual dues are less than the cost of the tank of gas we expend to get out to any of our flying sites for just one day. We all need to do our part to keep our club active and healthy. Without our membership dues we wouldn't have any mountain flying sites much less be able to achieve the improvements to them that we have in our plans.
