Smithsburg Status
The sign has been turned to "NO FLYING" so this means no flying or kiting until it re-opens in the fall.

Re: Smithsburg Closed
I stopped by there 10/7/15 and the hill looked great but there is a crop in the LZ about 10 inches high. Some years the site will open sometime in November but have no idea about this year. I took a couple of pictures of the crop and if anyone is good at identifying crops please post.

Thanks John, It looks familiar but my I can’t remember the species as time has eroded my botanical memory. However, I’m certain that it belongs to the Notgonnaflyhere family!

Re: Smithsburg Status
I drove up there this morning 11/6 to check things out. The LZ is cut but a little coarse feeling. The grass on the hill has been cut and usable for running through though not as short as desired in some areas. At the top is some crop but short and sparse in areas.
