Highland - Friday 5/9

Post by bowen.tim »

I took the day off to fly my new Sport 2 on tow. I met up with Ward there while Adam and Jim were going over his techniques on tow. We had to wait until about 2:30 for the low cloud deck to push out/burn off. Ward went off first (you can read his thread - Close Call on Tow). My first flight had a lot of PIO until I took a deep breath about 800' and finally settled down. I had plenty of time work my turns, work the VG, and just get more comfortable with the wing. On my second flight, Jim added my training wheels (tail fin) and the second flight was a very smooth tow. I stayed on target behind the tow plane without any PIO.

Both landings were one or two steps. This wing lands just as easy as my Falcon! I hope to get back to Highland on days with better lift to start working on my thermaling skills.

Tim

You can try the thermals at Highland tomorrow, Sunday May 11. Dr Jack sez it should be cracking. Been pretty wet so we shall see. Cloudbase 5K to 6K MSL

My ETA 11:00 am-ish.
