Tater Hill Open - 7/27 - 8/2 - Registration opens 5/1

Last year Krista, Matt, Patrick Terry, and I participated in the Tater Hill Open paragliding competition. Ben and LE and a number of other folks from Region 9 also participated. It was my first paragliding competition and it was a great experience for me. I participated in the Sprint event and I also took the Kari Castle clinic every morning It was a very welcoming environment and I learned a great deal about navigating using my flymaster, competition strategy, how to stay up vs. sinking out, etc. I recommend the event for club members that want to fly a great site while having a friendly introduction to paraglider competitions.

Tater Hill Open takes place July 27 - Aug 2, 2014

Join us at the end of July 2014 for the 9th Annual Tater Hill Open. A Paragliding and Hang Gliding Competition in the beautiful mountains surrounding Boone, North Carolina! This time of year offers an opportunity for some great cross country flights. Last year we saw 40 and 50 mile Paragliding flights from Tater Hill during the first week in August. The elevation at Tater is around 5000' ASL so it offers a unique chance for footlaunch flying on the East Coast.Competition scoring is handicapped so everyone has a chance to win. I'm planning on going. This year I'm going to try to make sure I don't let something else get in the way. I'm probably staying in a motel in Boone and might consider splitting the cost with someone if anyone is interested.
