Hang Gliding this weekend

Post by brucekav »

Hi,

I'm new to the club - joined last year but never got round to flying anywhere except Highland. Looking for advice on the hang gliding options for this weekend. Also I understand several of the sites require signed waivers. Do they need to be completed in advance or can they be done on the day? Coming from the UK I'm not familiar with waivers! If they need to be done in advance which would be the key ones to get sorted out? I'm based in Arlington so would be looking at the sites that are closer to DC generally.

Thanks,

Bruce

Welcome Bruce.

My prognostication is High Rock on Sunday. But, that undoubtably will be superseded by others. HR requires a waiver. If we fly there, arrive early and make yourself known. Someone can walk the LZ with you and introduce you to Emma Jane so you can sign her waiver.

Woodstock and the Pulpit require no waivers. Sites in the Shenandoah National Park (like Dickey's) require more advance planning than can be done before the weekend.

I live in Arlington, so carpooling is a possibility.

Great, keep me posted on your plans. What's required for the Shenandoah sites so I get that set up in advance for future visits.

Thanks,

Bruce

I'm leaning towards Woodstock late afternoon on Saturday if the road is open. Sunday is now looking cold and North-ish.

Will make up my mind on Saturday morning.
