mobile phone coverage

Post by dbodner »

It seems it's been a couple of years since we had this conversation. I wonder if anything's changed.

I'm sure Verizon is still the gold-standard for phone coverage. But, does anyone have good experience with the Sprint network at our sites? Or bad experience?

I'm looking at a cheap carrier that uses the Sprint network, and I'd love to pull the trigger.

Sprint works will in the Front Royal area. I had virgin mobile which runs on the sprint network. That, however, did not work. I don't know if it is the lack of roaming capability, but my phone would drop calls so frequently that it didn't make any sense to even make the call in the first place. I hear that phones using sprint directly do not have that problem. (virgin mobile seems to work fine in the DC area)

I have been using Sprint for over 2 years now. It works reasonably good in this part of the country (not the best in parts of Ca). Pretty good connectivity at the Pulpit and Woodstock. Almost no connectivity at Hyner but only a few people are able to receive there and I don't know what carrier.

Thanks, John. That's exactly what I was hoping to hear.

And, Ellis, I think you're right, too. Virgin doesn't roam off Sprint, so it's marginal. However, Ting roams--at least for voice and text. And it looks cheap for those who don't use it much.
