Sunday does look like a nice H2 day. Could be soarable with some sun. I'm not an observer but could be tempted to come out if it the forecast holds. Walt, if you don't hear from anyone on here, make some calls.
I'd love to get some flying in this weekend as well. I haven't flown any of the mountain sites out here yet, so I'd love to get an introduction to some of these hills. My glider is out in Warrenton right now at a friend's house, so if people are headed up to Pulpit, I'd be happy to come along.
Wow that would be great. I'm in DC, but my glider and harness are out there in Warrenton, so if the weather is good, hit me up and let me know. If not it's not terribly far out of the way. Looking forward to it.
The forecast for tomorrow is looking less promising. Bracketed by two SE days and winds switching back in the afternoon tomorrow combined with heavy cloud cover... I'm not sure the forecasted NW winds will ever be realized in strength.
Hopefully the morning will bring something better. What do you all think?
Agreed, it doesn't look great. But, unless it takes a real bad turn for the worse I will probably still head out and have a look see. Could be cloudy, north cross and light....but it's the only show in town
From what I am seeing now it looks like High Rock might be the best gamble. I am going to do one final weather check in the AM but unless it is raining or looking completely un-launchable I will probably go and have a look.
I've heard from Walt and Matt this morning and both are pulling the plug. Can't blame em really, it just doesn't look too appealing out there. Looks to be complete cloud cover (probably low base), light north cross, and a chance of a sprinkle or mist here and there.
That said, I am a glutton for punishment and if either you Charley or Peter are still interested.........I could be convinced.
Urrrfff... With the cast now calling for some NNE as well as N, and given the amount of E on the current surface map, I'm a lot less motivated than yesterday.... Probably pulling the plug unless I hear someone make a case for how good it's gonna be
Well I've gotta pick up my glider in Warrenton regardless, so I'm going to head out in that direction and maybe just hit a training hill just for launches and landings. We'll see if the wind holds as it is.
Looking like the rain's actually gonna come in, so I will prob just bring my glider back to DC and get it indoors before it started getting wet. Weather strikes again!
Thank you everybody for following up on my post. Yeah, let us hope the next weeks will be better.
Maybe we should create a indoor soccer league and play indoor soccer in days like that
