Meeting Minutes from Dec 21, 2012 (Annual Christmas Party)

Post by sailin »

The club had our annual Christmas Party this past week at Matthew and Karen's house in Takoma Park, MD. The party was well attended, and was well represented by both HG and PG pilots. Lots of food, drink, and good conversation. A big THANK YOU to Matthew and Karen for opening up their home again and being such gracious hosts!! We did conduct a small amount of club business. A small summary of that below:

Carlos reported that our club has been increasing in membership the past couple of years with estimated numbers being: 60 members in 2010, 80 members in 2011, and 100 members in 2012. Please remember to pay your club dues. Use PAYPAL on our membership page is the easiest way to pay.

Several new HG pilots were present including Tim (back after a long flying hiatus and finishing up some training with Richard Hays, Trevor getting close to an H2 with John Middleton and Walt a new H2 with a couple of local mountain launches now under his belt. Congratulations guys and welcome to the club!!!

There is a proposal on the table by PG pilot Patrick Terry for an overhaul of the Woodstock launch . Patrick is a general contractor and has put together a detailed plan for his proposal. This plan will be posted to the forum for review and discussion by the membership. It will be started in a thread titled "Woodstock Proposal" Please log in, review the plan, and make your comments in the thread. Based on membership direction we will decide how to move forward with a proposal to the United States Forest Service.

There was a little discussion on the condition of the road up to Daniels launch. There was no action agreed upon. Some think that the necessary repairs/improvements will be too costly. Some think the road will only get worse and become impassable to all but the highest clearance 4WD trucks.

There was some discussion regarding the construction that is ongoing in the Pulpit main LZ. Matt Ingram has been trying to get a hold of the landowner to check with them but has been unsuccessful thus far.

A point was raised and agreed to that it might make more sense to do officer elections during the Winter Party, as the Winter event is close to the end of the year and has more participation than most other events.

The next club meeting is scheduled for March 8, 2013. Location to be finalized. Items on the agenda will include: election of club officers, setting the calendar for the year, and safe spring flying.

My apologies if I omitted something. If you were present at the party and think something should be posted in the minutes that is not, then please post here in this thread.

thanks!!
Jon
