USHPA Magazine Story about HR--NEED PHOTOS

Post by keshob »

Hi Everyone,

I just spoke with Nick Greece from the USHPA Hangliding/Paragliding magazine about the High Rock story. They're planning to run the story as a feature, but are in desperate need of some photos from High Rock. Unfortunately they're on a tight deadline and need photos in 3 days or so.

If any of you HG pilots have photos of HR, please send me a private message and I'll give you my email address. It's good publicity for the club and also for a historic hang gliding site, dare I say, a national treasure?

Background info:
I'm a P2, fairly new to CHGPA. Months back I interviewed CHGPA/MHGA members and Emma Jane for a story about the High Rock renovation. The story covers the renovation, HR's history, and also includes a Q&A with Emma Jane (if they intend to publish it in its entirety). Unfortunately the day I visited the site was a non-flying day, so I don't have any photos of people actually flying the rock.

Thanks,
bishop

I'm sure Dan Tuck has some good ones of modern times at High Rock. Here's one Liz took this summer. Full rez isn't real high, but it might meet the requirements.

USHPA is looking for photos of HR and pulpit in the same time frame? Just checking if there is a crossed wire based on this and Mathew's postings.

I'm not so sure about the Pulpit request... But USHPA is definitely looking for HR photos.

John agreed that it’s a great photo. I think I’m remembering that it was by Ralph Sicklinger (sp?), who did some really nice stuff. maybe someone else has it, it would be a great cover shot.
anyhow that’s it for me, gary, aka Roseanne Roseannadanna.

I think High Rock is the oldest continuously operated site in the Mid-Atlantic. Does anyone have pictures of the earliest days of flight at High Rock? Bishop, would they be an appropriate compliment to the article?

By the way Bishop, my hat is off to you. Congratulations on making this happen.

I sent Bishop 7 recent pics from High Rock. Some are pretty decent - at least they'll have something.

Ralph set up a directory where we can download some of his photos: http://sickinger.net/download/highrock. I'm particularly fond of this one: http://sickinger.net/download/highrock/img13677.jpg :)

I’ve seen Dan’s selections and along with Ralph’s, and probably others, the Rock is set to rock.
thanks for the follow through, Karen.
