Weather depending I'm about 90% certain I'll be out this weekend. Any takers for a RTG task this Saturday at the pulpit? Below is what I was thinking:
SO: 1:30pm 4x 20min gates
S: Pulpit - R: 5km Type: Exit
TP1: High Rock - R: 400m Type: Enter
Goal: Jenns Moms - R: 400m Type: Enter
~45miles (could also go back to pulpit ~60miles if it looks good)
Happy to score it if there are takers. Also if we leave a car at High Rock and Jenns Moms there's a high probability we won't need a driver and should be back at a reasonable hour.
Let me know.

Charlie is setting tasks just like they are set at the comps. I assume RTG means route to goal. The first one sets up four 20 minute start gates. The idea for comp pilots is to leave early in the 20 minute window. The 5 km refers to the radius of the start circle. He has one marked turn point at High Rock with a 400 meter wide cylinder that you must enter to get credit for the turn point. The final one is at Jenn's mom, which I think is near Gettysburg.
The ECC at Ridgely uses a similar format. For the sport class they eliminate the 20 minute start gates, the pilots can leave the start circle at any time and their time always starts the moment they leave the circle.
For the aspiring XC or comp pilot these contests and XC tasks can be a great way to improve one's XC skills. You'll learn how to set and fly waypoints on your GPS and by starting a little early and getting on course out front, you'll get to learn from the big guns who will be passing you along the way.

Dan thanks for the explanation. Race to goal (R2G) is a lot of fun.
