Saturday is now looking marvelous for HG at HR. Smithsburg will be on too!
Anybody have a spare medium sized DS HG they might bring along to HR Saturday? I'd like to rent, borrow, or trade a beer to fly it if it's not "Falcon-able". Trade a sailplane ride ?

Smithsburg historically opens up in mid to late November. Bacil
Re: This weekend: High Rock Hang Gliding and PG Festival!
Danny,
I'll bring both my gliders (Falcon 170 and Sport 2 155). We can figure something out.
On the subject of food, I'll bring something (that's helpful!). I either won't be spending the night, or I'll be leaving early. So no breakfast.
Remember, the garbage man doesn't pick up from Emma Jane's LZ, so please be prepared to take with you what won't burn.

Looking like a great opportunity to visit with Emma-Jane this weekend, and support both E-J and Randy with a great turn-out!
Would be great to see lots of pilots out there, maybe this will be a fly-in like those of years past.

Danny, you beat me out. I am the official wing bum around these parts! Sunday my wife and I are going to a short bike race in Cascade and I would love to get in the air if anyone has a wing I could fly. Willing to trade for glider tuning, bike tuning, beer, training advice, or ??
Thanks in advance

Bacil - hats off to you on the long term forecast, the models went wacko in the middle of the week then came back around to agree with you.
May be up saturday only, riding with shawn mcduff.

I talked to Shawn on the phone yesterday. I believe he is bringing his tandem wing, BVH, and another pilot as well. Bacil

So when are people getting there to fly tomorrow? I'm thinking ETA launch about 10am.

Re: This weekend: High Rock Hang Gliding and PG Festival!
Hard to know exactly what sort of velocities we're going to see behind the front.... I've seen surface 'casts of strong NNW at High Rock, but the 3k forecasts (currently) seem much lighter. And just 27 miles up-wind, at the Pulpit, the same surface forecast is only NW@5-10. So who the heck knows!
My current plan is to head to High Rock, toss the frisbee around, and see what the day brings. At the very least, even the stronger forecasts seem to be calling for winds to lighten by no later than late afternoon. And that would be fine with me!
Keep yer fingers crossed!

Well an unusual work emergency may make me miss this one. I may still show up later in the afternoon.
