XC Social Aug 18-19

So it looks like we have a good number of folks up for flying this weekend (Aug 18-19) and trying to put together an XC clinic/social of some sort.

We'll try and fly both Saturday and Sunday, going wherever the conditions look best, making the call about 9 am each day, and trying to meet by 11.

I've got an updated "XC Club" waypoint file and pdf maps of several sites which I can bring or email to those interested. If people have difficulty with loading the waypoints into their GPS or vario, I'll have my laptop with an inverter, so I can try and help with that on site.

I'll have a driver (dad) and hopefully we can muster one more, which would be helpful assuming we have six or more pilots who will be landing here and there.

Depending on interests, we can start the day with a chat about flying XC, tasks, instruments, etc. Tom can talk about going far, Lazlo can talk about special landing situations, etc. We can end the day with a dinner and beers somewhere cool. My dad and I may camp out if the weather permits, if anyone else is interested in staying west overnight.

Looks like the weather may not cooperate this weekend. We'll make the final call tomorrow at 9am, but doesnt look good as of now. If we postpone, we'll try again at the Sept 8-9 fly-in.

Unfortunately, weather isn't looking good to support our XC clinic/fly-in today, so we'll postpone. Tomorrow isn't looking a heckuva lot better, but we can check again tomorrow morning and see how things look. If we don't get either day this weekend, we'll try again at the Sep 8-9 Fly-in.
