Washington, Spokane report

Post by Joe Schad »

I have been trying to do a Washington-Oregon hang Gliding trip for the past 6 years. I am one month into my three month trip and am in Spokane. Flew Tekoa site south of Spokane on the Idaho border. Great site. Overcast with winds straight in on a grassy slope 1800 agl to Lz. First flight was mostly weak ridge life and only got to 400 over briefly. Top landed had a snack then launched into 15 to 20 winds for a nice flight. One good thermal got me 1500 over. Zelda picked me up and we then picked up our host local pilot Mike Bomstad who was flying an ATos. So my hang gliding adventure is on.
Forecast is better for tomorrow so I will be at it once more.
Hope you are all having fun back east

Columbia river crossing from the Chelan Butte is one of my favorite hang gliding memories, highly recommend it!

Enjoy your trip and happy landings.
