I'm headed for the Outer Banks for some Dune Gooning. Looks like it might even be soarable!

Hey Jesse ! ..hope you can make it...I've got a glider you can fly.

I've always really enjoyed the little Club Contests...bomb drop...spot landing and the like.
Pylons and spot landing sound like fun to me!....plus...I've never been there.

Any suggestions?

suggestions? bring water and sunscreen and socks or sand shoes, it can get hot!

Down for my first Spectacular. Blown out today. We'll see for tomorrow.

Blown out? If its strong from the east just use a small Eaglet and soar that dune!

Hang gliding spectacular this year was blown out and rained on. Strong NNE winds meant no dune soaring. Sunday was the only day they held the dune comp. Those that braved the rain got a flight or two. I had left my glider at home and had made arrangements to share, but didn't end up flying much because of the weather.

The highlight of the weekend was on Saturday when Bruce and Andy of KHK brought out their scale replica of the Wright Bros 1902 glider and all the pilots got a chance to "fly" it if they wanted. With a half dozen crew holding wires and pulling on leader ropes, it was more of a ride than a piloting experience, but we had some small amount of pitch and roll control that let us imagine what it was like for the Wright Brothers during their gliding flights leading up to their airplane.
