Paragliding Friday?
I can provide a ride to 2 more PGers from DC.
Re: Paragliding Friday?
I just saw this post. A couple people headed to Flat Top earlier today. Sorry we couldn't coordinate. As for tomorrow it looks windy so if the mountains don't look good the best bet is Taylor Hill in Fredericksburg. I'll post a message on this forum when we decide in the morning.

Matt,
I don't see Flattop in the site guide. Can you point me to where I can find information on the site?
Thanks,
Jim

It's odd that it's not in the site guide. You can see it from Daniels - it's a little further south. It's an East facing site with a nice big launch that you can top land, but unless there's a good bit of base wind or good thermal cycles it's difficult to take off due to the shallow slope on launch. It's also difficult to land because the LZ is an old graveyard that's really small and downslope. I've been a few times, but haven't flown it due to those challenges. Ben and Noah flew it a few weeks ago and got good flights.

Re: Paragliding Friday?
It was removed from the site guide long ago because there wasn't enough room in the LZ for the hang gliders with better glide ratios.
Re: Paragliding Friday?
Neither the launch nor the LZ are easy for a PG either. I've never flown it and probably won't.

I have flown Flattop many times, and have also seen Jim (McClave) launch and land elsewhere. I am pretty sure he can handle Flattop (when the conditions are right, ie., E wind, 8-12 mph at launch level).
