Sunday?

Post by Lostgriz »

Hello,

I would love to get out in the mountains on Sunday if things are working for any of our sites. I have not flown any of them, so I would need an observer. If something looks good and you wouldn't mind assisting a Newb, please let me know.

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

Looks like Sunday could be a Daniels day (Stanardsville, VA). I am hoping to fly and hopefully some observers will be out there too. Let me know if you need directions to the site. Look forward to meeting you.

I am not familiar with the site, but I will let you know if I need directions. I would be very interested in joining you guys if there is going to be an observer available.

Thanks,

Matt

I would be very interested in paragliding on Sunday at Daniels. I might also be interested in heading out on Saturday if the wind drops down.

I would need an observer to be present also. I'd be happy to drive and also to help with any site maintenance at Daniels.

Thanks,

Sunday does look like a good Daniels day. Call an observer today/tonight to line someone up. Don't wait for them to look for you. The most up-to-date list can be found here - check VA and MD.
http://www.ushpa.aero/observe.asp

I'm a PG observer, but it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it on Sunday. Although it's likely that a few other PG observers like Tom or Laszlo will show up. Just call them and ask them if they'd be willing to observe.

Also, if you're so inclined bring some tools and show up early to do some light launch clearing, but I realize the priority is getting airtime after a long winter of little flying! Remember the time change Saturday night will mean solar peak will occur earlier in the day.

Thanks Matt. I think Peter Humes is going to show up but I'm waiting for him to confirm. I'll check in with the other folks if I don't hear from him over the next couple of hours.

Thanks for the reminder on the time change! It will be nice to get some flying in. I managed to get one flight in at the Pulpit in January and a several fool around days at Smithsburg. I drove down to Woodstock last Sunday but it was too strong for paragliders.

I'm also interested in Daniels for Sunday. I don't have a car that can carry my HG up rocky mountain road, though. Jon, your truck can, right?

I did a quick check for site information and didn't see anything on Daniels. If someone could provide a link here, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

I'm in. I'm thinking about showing up at 11 to do some cleanup before flying, if I can get up early enough. I'm hoping to leave Arlington by 9 and am willing to carpool.

It was a great first day for me at Daniels. Thanks for all the coaching by Tom, Laslo, Ellis, Matt and the rest of the experienced pilots. I am looking forward to a lot more days like today!

Best Day at Daniel's ever. Got 2:30 and 1300' over launch. Could've stayed up till sunset. Lazlo did-- for a 4 hour flight. Karen got 1K over and came out to land after 40 minutes because she got pinned on the ridge. Same thing happened to Krista. We're gonna have to add ballast to those girls!

I think everyone soared and there were two tandem pilots with passengers-- Alex and Eric.
