vario, gps
I need to buy a vario & gps for my trip to Valle de Bravo. What is the advantage of buying them separately, instead of together like the flytec 6015? Which one(s) do you prefer? Thanks.

i have separate instruments. One consideration - do you think you might want to use the GPS for other stuff besides (in addition to) flying? If so, consider something like the Garmin MAP76CSx (http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-gpsmap-76csx.html)
GPS City has it on for a heck of a sale price now. $400 knocked down to $220. And the MAP series, while ostensibly designed for maritime use, has soaring functions built into it. I have the older version MAP 76CS, and am very happy with it.

My stuff is all old. Still, I like separate pieces so I can use the GPS for other things-- backpacking, sailing, biking. Plus, none of the Vario/GPS combos have a moving map display that is on most GPS models. And if one piece of equipment breaks, you still have the other.
