Is anyone else interested in going to the Lone Star PG tow comp that Dave Prentice is organizing in Texas in August (14th-20th)?
There was an article about it in the USHPA magazine a few issues ago. It’s also listed in the sanctioned events section at the back of the current issue.
The website for the event is http://lonestar.earthcog.com/
I’m not going ‘cos I’m a competitive XC-hound (although I’d like to be one day!) – in fact, I fully expect to come last every day.
I’m going ‘cos it’ll be a chance to fly all week in a set-up where going XC is the goal, hopefully there’ll be the chance to learn some things from the other pilots and it’s a flying meet so it’s gonna be fun – also, some of the folks I used to fly with in Texas will be there so I’m looking forward to hanging out with them again.
I’ve been on several trips and training courses with Dave P before so he knows my level and he said there’s no reason why I shouldn’t give it go.
Entry fee is $250 before 1st July, $350 thereafter. Tow fees $150.
I’m signing up tonight to save the $100!
Would be more fun to have some other folks to go with – I’ve always had more fun on group flying trips and we could also share costs on rental cars and accommodations in Texas.
Waddyafink?

I had no idea Texas was such a big XC mecca! Please keep us updated on this new competition. I'm sure you'll learn a lot and have lots of fun doing it, even if you aren't competitive.
