FYI-- The back field of the primary has been cut and there's a clearing at the front of the primary next to the road.

.... or if you want to see for yourself you can get up early and drive there and walk the LZs.

Wow, couldthe Blipmaps and FSL sounding really be agreeing on the same forecast? It looks like one could get well over 8000' today at Ridgely! Can't wait to hear the reports.

We got to 8K in sailplanes on Saturday but in the area SE of the mountains. Hagerstown valley was clouded over and flat. The original task along the length of the Tuskarora was abandoned and we pretty much flew in the area between Frederick and Harrisburg. T'storms started blowing up at about 7 pm.

Crazy flyable. I arrived late (wasn't sure if I could get away, then fought the bridge traffic) but had great time in the air. I never got above 5K, but other folks were definitely higher, especially in the earlier hours. Big X-C potential day but it was not taken advantage of.

Conditions did not shut down until dinner time.

Bun...to answer your question. I topped out at 7200 or so about 5 miles north of the airport. That was approximately cloudbase. Went a couple of more miles north and then glided back to Highland. Flew about an hour. Trying to gently get my shoulder back into flying shape to be ready for Big Spring. Glider flies better after a slight adjustment to the left tip wand. Thermals both directions nicely. Might not be perfect, but real close.

Another belated report

Conditions on Saturday were great! There were reports of 1hour soaring flights at 10AM.

I had my highest flight here 6600 (not as high as Dave's), but chose not to go anywhere.( I did that the week before without planning)

Even later after 5PM Karen, Matthew, Ashley and John were still soaring.

One of those rare days

Sorry Larry, now I see that you were commenting on the expected conditions at Ridgley... was offering conditions report for the McConnelsburg area it being a Pulpit Flying thread.

I saw Dr. Jack's report on Saturday morning that the Ridgley area was looking thermo-nuclear... glad the gang proved him right!
