I hear that Highland was pretty decent today (Sat), with multiple soaring flights to 5k+ .
At the moment, the 'casts are calling for NNW at < 10 (surface) on Sunday, and the 'cast at 3k is light. In fact, it looks a bit better than what I was looking at for Saturday.
(of course, this all means nothing, as evidenced by how far off the Friday night forecasts were, sheesh)
That said... Anyone thinking of a Highland day tomorrow? Make it 2-for-2 ?

Highland Sunday May 8th?

Re: Highland Sunday May 8th?
Hmmmm.... Now they're calling for NW < 10 and 50% cloud cover, but that might be a bit optimistic given the current satellite and radar.
The radar loop shows that the rain to our south is moving on a WNW track at a pretty good clip; I suppose that things might clear out enough for a bit of sun at Highland if things continue that way.
Hmmmm. Opinions?

At the moment, completely sunny at Highland, winds NNW at about 5, and it's looking *way* sweeter than I had hoped at 7:30am!
Light winds forecast throughout the day, so come on out if you are on the fence.

SWEET DAY!!!! Got there later in the afternoon after catching a little sleep when I got off work and then taking Mom out to brunch for Mothers Day. When I arrived there were several other gliders HIGH in the sky. Cummies everywhere!! I towed up around 430pm..... Made it up to 4700' (much lower than others of the day). Lift was everywhere. Had a pretty active LZ as I came in for approach and landing which made it a little exciting.......super fun flight all the way to the end!!!! Great to see MarkC, Greg Sessa, Dave Proctor, and John Middleton all getting stinking HIGH!!!

Jon said it best! I had one flight at around 12:30 to 4k and about 45 minutes. Then a mondo flush cycle claimed everyone in the sky.
Second attempt was probably around 2:45 or so, this time to 5800 MSL. Fantastic lift, to the regulation 500' below cloudbase many
times. Got cold and tired, landed after maybe 1:15. Kirk was also flying, plus three others that I haven't met yet. Not a bad turn-out
given how iffy things looked this morning!
Enjoyed catching up with Jim Rooney a bit, and hearing about the tandem life in New Zealand. He headed down to Campbell late this
afternoon; I've got to get down there and check things out this summer....
