If you are interested in keeping track, the results for the RKM competition are posted here: http://soaringspot.com/2011rk/results/f ... /day1.html. Good first day in tough conditions early. Had a good run and backed off on the pedal the last leg to ensure I made goal. Should have been in 10 minutes earlier but hey it's only day one.

Re: Rob Kells Memorial 2011
Of 38 pilots who flew, only 16 made goal, and Larry was #6. Our local rep. is more than holding his own.

Re: Rob Kells Memorial 2011
Ended up in the top 10 on 3 of 6 days however the 3 bad days were really bad. I ended up 17th overall. The flying was stellar with beautiful sunny skies for most of the week. Now on to the Flytec Race and Rally.

Larry,
I'm sure we'd all like to learn from your experience. How about giving us a few pointers on what you did right and wrong?
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Rob Kells Memorial 2011
I need to learn to be more patient mostly. I would push out on my own when I should have stayed with my friends (other pilots). During the RKM, I reverted to my XC days where I was more comfortable flying alone. This does not equate to flying fast or using other pilots to mark the thermals so that I could get high.
