Amy and I headed out to Ridgely today looking for some airtime. There were a couple gliders set up when we arrived including Steve K and a fellow from Pennsylvania named Travis. There was another glider set up ( a T2) but I can't remember the pilots name....sorry mystery pilot.

Winds were crossing the runway out of the east but were light enough to be manageable. My first flight started with a very squirrely tow.....just couldn't seem to stop PIO'ing for the first bit of it. I finally settled down once I was well off the ground and enjoyed a nice smooth sled ride the rest of the way. My next tow was very smooth and also ended in an enjoyable sled ride. No thermals to be found out there today.
It was good to get back on tow and even a sled ride from 2500 ft allows lots of time for fun stuff :)

Jon about summed up the conditions today... light with minimal thermal activity. (Although, I would not know if I was in a thermal or not... I just heard that there were no thermals... talk the talk, walk the walk :-) )

I did one flight- had a great tow out and a some time to play around in the sky. I have never towed heading SE... so I enjoyed the new views on that side of the world.

I am sorry that Highland Aero is closing soon... but, there is always next Spring!

Hope everyone has a nice flying weekend ahead!

PS- I dropped my glider off at Steve's W. last week. He seemed optimistic that we can get my glider good as new... with a patch :-) Hey, it adds character, right?!

Glad you guys got some airtime - and supported Highland! We are so lucky to have TWO flight parks within striking range, plus all our mountain sites. The California guys don't get it - ask "do you guys actually fly hang-gliders back there?" No need to hibernate all winter - we get plenty of 50-degree days... - Hugh
