I think BYOB and BYOG (grillable) worked pretty well last time. I should have propane covered along with a campstove and lantern. If everyone brings enough for themselves and a little bit more, there should be plenty.

I believe the paper products are already taken care of. Doesn't someone have the collection of products from previousyears?

The updated forecast is a complete inverse of yesterday's prediction. It now shows Saturday as looking east. A lot of work needs to be done according to Matthew if a hang glider wants to fly off of Bills Hill. Sunday looks south since the temp is predicted to rise a good bit on Sunday. I will be out of town Saturday. Driving back from WV on Sunday. Bacil

I was just in the process of cross-posting the below, from the Events Calendar forum:
Although we're still quite a few days out, conditions for the weekend
are looking promising so far. Not sure about the winds, but at least
the forecasts are calling for sunny conditions on Saturday and Sunday!
Also, looks like we're going to get lucky with Hurricane Igor : it should
still be way out in the Atlantic by this weekend (fingers crossed!).

So... Are things a go? Is there a preliminary Bacil-cast for flying activities
this weekend? And will the party be held on-site at The Pulpit on Saturday
night?

Hoping so!
But I'm glad to see that the ball is rolling and plans are being made! 8)

If you think you can make it, let us know so that we have at least a
rough idea of how many to plan for, thanks!!

I'm in! Got a H2 to observe, Valerie Rasmussen, Highland and Lookout trained. I will post her flying resume to the observer corps.

I am also still in the tandem-with-rated-pilot business - need 6 more flights before getting T3, eligible to give rides to "civilians". High Rock for sure (3 uneventful flights there so far), might consider Pulpit if conditions are *perfect*.

Thinking about menu submission...

I think I'm going up Friday noon-ish or earlier. I wouldn't mind getting a head-start on Bill's if it looks flyable out there. If you can help on any day, bring long sleaves, gloves and the implement-of-destruction of your choice. Best non-powered bet would be pruning loppers. Remember, the sky-gods look kindly on those who help clear out Bill's Hill. Matt-in-Arlington, can you drop me a line? I'd like to pick up the club weedwhacker from you unless you're going up early too.

Hugh, keep me in mind for dummy-duty.

As you may have been expecting:
> RSVP on Facebook
The basic information is there, and it will be easy for you to invite your Facebook friends to come & spectate. It should be a great weekend and maybe we can get a few more people interested in the sport.

Yup, I'm seeing all the east - but SW at Breezewood. Collecting loppers, scythe, Agent Orange for Bill's, which is devoutly to be wished for if it will have straight-in cycles - sucks if it's cross... What do we do if it's south? Fisher's? With H2s? Maybe we beg for special permission at the old LZ this weekend only? Or postpone?

Jack's works in a south so long as there's no west in it.

Current surface forecast for Saturday shows WSW at Jack's and Bill's, East at Hight Rock and Daniel's, South at the Pulpit, NE on the Eastern Shore.

MRF at 3000' shows West for Saturday and NW for Sunday.

ADDS shows the opposite for Saturday.

Ugh.

I guess it's gonna be L&V.

Not sure about the flying.... But given that it does look like we'll be at The Pulpit
on Sat night, a show is beginning to take shape:

BTW, there are many worse things than an L&V weekend forecast. Temps are going
to be cool, the dew points are going to be low, and sunny both days... That's
hardly a reason to be pessimistic about the weekend, and there have been many
soaring flights at The Pulpit and High Rock on L&V days. I'm just happy that we're
not going to be rained out and that the prospects look halfway decent!

And some of the 'casts for Sunday are NW, with W aloft.

I think we're going to have a good time....

Hmmm... much better forecast today for Weekend-- light West in McC'burg on Saturday and NW on Sunday.

Got my fingers crossed that this one is correct.

If someone is taking on the task of coordinating a cook-out, then I'd be happy to
pass the box along....

amazing dave said i can 'have' the job if no one has already set their heart on it.

as the above post was made on the 13th:
is a table still needed? firewood? - that's a car full of stuff to carry up if not needed.

( is anybody still out there,or has every one disconnected and hit the road? )
