Pulpit Sunday

Post by Matthew »

Small crew at the Pupit on Sunday. Got 2+ hours, mostly scraping at ridge (or below) level to 600 over. Finally found a good one at the end of the flight to top out at 3100 over launch. Decided to stay local. Dan Tuck and Proctor had gone over the back earlier and made it to St Thomas. Karen also flew 2+ hours and Mark C. was probably up for 3. Carlos and Tony D also had nice flights. Big BIG THANKS to Rich Bloomfield for coming by to help wire off me and Karen. John M. showed up, after teaching a class at Kirchner's, for a 35 minute flight at the end of the day. Encouraged by the optomistic Mark C. (the wind will get lighter, it will get lighter, definitely lighter), I joined John in the air in my PG. It was an exercise in going forward. Got 400 over and 22 minutes-- a third of that on my speed bar.

Got there late, had to leave early.
Special thanks to Karen and Matthew who wire me off the pad.

As I was leaving I saw Karen and Matthew in the air look pretty high

After wasting some time looking at conditions which looked pretty good, I finally set up my U2 and got into the air just before 8:00 PM. It was really really nice and only landed to have a little day light to start breaking down in. The air was cool, refreshing and boyant. During the flight there was a redtail a little below me and to the right and I waved and he/she turned their head to have a look!
