Oregon Ridge update and info: summer

Post by Richard Hays »

No flying there this weekend. They are holding a wine tasting thing Saturday and Sunday. Also: The fence is now up. : (

Just a reminder about the fence. Last person out puts it back up. Failure to do so can result in the site being closed for flying all summer. So...it important that the fence goes back up every time. Also...wouldn't hurt to carry some extra zip ties. Sometimes the fence gets pulled apart when we lay it down/up. Once nice thing.....and strictly cosmetic...is that the "new" fence is not that god-aweful orange crap. The new stuff looks nicer and....more importantly...( from first glance anyway...) lighter to deal with. Lighter mesh. Nice. Should make putting back up easier.

Do not mess with the rope walkay at the base of the hill if it is present. Fly over it. You can move trash cans out of the way if needed, or picknic tables.

To check on flying status, you can always call the lodge Monday thru Friday from 9am to 3pm. 410-887-1818 Ask for Pam or Sandy. Be super polite. Don't get pushy with them. No means no if they say so.

Also; make sure that you have your hang rating card on you. They may ask for it. Helmets must be worn at all times by all pilots and student pilots. There have been some incidences in the recent past. No unrated pilots may fly there without being under the direct supevision of a certified instructor. Instructors must carry their rating cards and follow the rules for safe operations out there. This includes paraglider pilots also.

All this crud usually only lasts thru August. By September we have the hill clear once again.
