Dear Friends and Family,


Sarah Scheele, age 59, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2010 in her home in Annapolis, Md., surrounded by loving family and friends and her precious dogs. She was born on May 11, 1951 in Washington DC. She attended Sidwell-Friends School, Georgetown Visitation Convent School and Mount Vernon College, now part of George Washington University. She is survived by her husband Denis J. Scheele whom she married on September 26, 1997 in a ceremony at St. Mary's in Annapolis, Md; survived by her father John J. Noone of Annapolis, brother Paul Noone of Topsham, ME., and brother Mark Noone of Washington DC.


Sarah enjoyed good health until a recent illness which did not completely respond to medical attention. Following college, Sarah worked as a Meeting Conference planner in the Washington DC area. Sarah was a member of the National Association of Exposition Managers, also a Conference/Event planner for the Recycle Coalition under Al Gore during 1990-1992.

Sarah was a proud Sponsor parent from 1999 to 2010 to many Midshipmen of United States Naval Academy. Our Sponsor Mids are:

Sarah worked closely with the Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) in protecting the lives and advancing the interests of animals. In loving memory of Sarah and her dedication to helping animal victims from egregious acts of cruelty, In lieu of flowers, Sarah’s family and friends ask that you please contribute to ALDF at http://aldf.org/sarah or by calling (402) 345-1951. Sarah’s own painful experience with her beloved dog SHADOW, whom was shot and killed while enjoying a family picnic in VT, led her to spearhead a change in the laws to help animal victims.


A memorial service will be held for Sarah at St. Mary's Catholic Church in downtown Annapolis, MD on Thursday, June 24th at 10:00 am.
