Fun Flying

Post by Matthew »

From David Bodner...

I'm going to disagree. Granted, competition can entice people to take
risks they otherwise wouldn't. But, I think our competitions are a
whole lot friendlier than they are serious. And if they do start
trending toward the serious, then we ought to change that.

David,

I never said that competition flying wasn't fun. I said it wasn't free or about getting away from it all. Competetion is about winning, not getting away from it all. And, of course, it's fun. FLYING IS FUN. But there are a myriad of rules and regulations at competitions: turnpoints, goals, points, penalties, rankings, how to contest scoring, etc. It's not FREE.

And as to FREE FLYING, please note FAA part 103. Please also note the USHGA waiver the YOU MUST SIGN every year.

Please note your USHGA DUES.

Please note the USHGA Pilot Proficiency Program.

Please note the rules for all of our sites in the Mid-Atlantic Site Guide.

Please note the Pulpit Sticker.

Please note the rules and regulations on the waiver YOU MUST SIGN to fly at a flight park.

Please note the costs per tow at a flight park.

Please note the special regulations and requirements for getting a pass to fly at the sites along Skyline Drive.

That's right, there are a lot of rules. Don't see the case for adding
one more. - Hugh
