Laszlo, Jim, Erik, Alex and myself showed up (all PG).

Wind was between 5-8mph straight in. Thermal cores were small and strong. Lots of turbulance en sink as well. Cloudbase was at 6500ftasl.
I went OTB and boated around, thermals everywhere. I stayed above 3000ftasl all the time. Cloudstreets lined up but there was little meteo wind up there.
After 3h I landed at Rt17 with I66 exit 28.
Thanks to Laszlo and Erik for the rides.

And yes the leaves are turning yellow at the park.

Cheers

I forgot to mention that from +3000 ft at Exit28 on I66 and Rt17 one can clearly see Dulles Airport, the runways, the planes landing and taking off , pretty close being so close.
I also realized one can glide under the Class B to the mountain ridge between Haymarket and the Plains and keep on soaring under 1500ft till the sun goes under and the friends are on the way back to pick you up. Looks a pretty cool idea soaring next to the Rt66.
Cheers
