HR Friday?
Should be good at HR tomorrow. Direction good, velocity constant throughout the day not dropping off until dark. My ETA will be ~4:30 pm. Any other takers?

I will give it a try if the forecast holds
Re: HR Friday?
I'm hoping to get to work early and then bail early, for arrival at HRock
by about 4:30. Assuming the forecast holds!

Steve, Danny, give me a ring at 301-807-5414 tomorrow if you would
like to debate conditions, arrange a shuttle, etc. I'm going to try to
move my ETA up to a bit before 4:00, if at all possible.

Will do... weird forecast... 10 - 15 on NOAA(good), lighter on WXunderground (bad), Dr' Jacks is promissing (okay)... cool tonight (good), with deteriorated following conditions on Saturday (bad).
Ridgley should be good regardless... but can't get there until (too) late.
Will check in the am.

Re: HR Friday?
We came, we sledded, we drank beer!
Got into work at 8:00, on the road at 3:00, for a total
of just an hour of leave. L&V, but figured what the heck,
give it a try and see what happens.
Arrived at 4:30, with Mike L, Danny, and Steve already there.
Christy and Rich had also stopped by, but hopped on their
bike not long after I showed. Conditions were... well, light!
Big dark clouds in and out during set-up. And when we ran
a shuttle, the wind was pretty much straight down the
field in the LZ... But outta the southeast? WTF?!
Steve had done his sledder earlier, so we picked him up
after dropping the vehicles. Thanks to Mike' s friend Brian
(do I remember that right Mike?), we dropped 'em all and
headed back up top. BTW, he's a photographer, and is
interested in putting together a story on hang gliding for
a WVA publication. Hoping that we'll be able to get him
out on a soaring day soon.
Back up top, Mike and I took our sleds. Significant left
cross, but occasional puffs in. Danny decided that it just
wasn't worth it and de-rigged up top...
Can't say it was stellar, but hey, it was a launch and landing,
and I was happy because I managed under 25' (11 short paces)
from the cone after a reverse/south approach. Nailed the
flare, happiness
I don't know what the heck was going on with the conditions....
Big black clouds shutting down the thermals early, the SE winds
in the LZ, then high cirrus moved in after we flew, with NE to
SE winds during the entire time we were breaking down. Weird!
But nothing ventured, nothing gained. At least it was a flight
at the Rock, which I haven't had in forever. Mike and I caught
up with Emma-Jane for a while... Tomorrow would be Harry's
birthday, and I think she was missing him.
Fun day, but hoping our next summer-time High Rock Magic
attempt will yield some better conditions!

Re: HR Friday?
A good ole' buddy of mine, Eric Fargo is the staff photographer for a new publication (magazine) here in the eastern panhandle.
The name of the magazine is Around the Panhandle, and you can find out more at their website: www.AroundThePanhandle.com
It features events, businesses, people, photos, and bunch of neat stuff aound the area. Eric believes that his publisher can get
us a staff writer to join him to do an article on flying HG & PG in the area. check out the site.... pretty interesting...
'Til then,
Mike
PS, Eric also freelances photography for all sorts of occasions. His site is being worked on, but I think is www.Fargofotos.com
