Nope - get one of the big windsocks from USHGA - they're easy to see
from the air (from a long way off) and that's important. There's
nothing worse than circling the LZ (and losing altitude) while you try
to figure out which way the #*(&@ windsock is pointing.

A good windsock to get is one of the 4' spinner windsocks from The Kite
Loft.? There used to be a Kite Loft in the Light Street Pavilion of the
Baltimore Inner Harbor.? The spinner windsock is beneficial in that the
speed of the spin is a good indicator of the velocity of the wind.?
Faster spin = stronger wind.? Easily mounted on a tomato stake with a
4P nail on top.? Carry a short stake and a hammer for driving a pilot
hole for the tomato stake (and killing Dracula ).

Yep Ralph.? They work too.? Used these for years before you even started flying.? Easy to see from the air due to their multicolors and their size.? Always would put 2 in the LZ so if you weren't able to land near one the other one was available for information as well.? Plus they were crash-proof.
