Sac Monday

Post by mcgowantk »

I had a nice flight yesterday at the Sac. The forecast looked stellar and conditions on launch were excellent when I arrived. However, by the time I set up the thermals started ripping through. I did not get off until 3:00 in a lull. Conditions aloft were excellent but it took me an embarrassing amount of time to get to base and head over the back. It was easy staying high over the mountains, but 15 miles over the back you get to the flat lands. Conditions there were weaker and I struggled for another 10 miles before landing. I had a total of something like 25 miles. Max altitude was 6500 over launch (7770 msl).

Not sure when you got there but my opinion is that we aren't getting there early enough. Next time I fly there I plan on being ready to fly by 1030.
