Ridgely 4/18 report

Post by Ashley Groves »

I had 3 flights at ridgely. 45 minutes, 1 hour, and a final flight in massive sink.

The first two flight ended when i left the thermals around the junk yard to push back upwind to stay within the area of the park. I decided to not go X-C. On the second flight I topped around 3K and still climbing, but there were no cumies to mark the lift and lots of sink in spots. I think someone said they got to 5. No X-C by anyone.

I missed out on the soarable window waiting for a wire replacement and Sunny to testfly my glider after replacing my aluminum sprogs with the carbon fiber ones from John Dullahan's old Litespeed, which he generously has given to me for free. It was fun to watch somebody else fly my glider and I believe Sunny was a bit nervous flying a topless for the first time this season :-). I then had two quick flights and noticed an improvement in handling right away. Wow, they do make a difference. Thanks John. Very generous of you.
